Chloe’s work reflects on concrete photography, exploring the physicality of a photograph. She creates equivocal images which can never be reproduced. James Welling is one of Chloe’s influences, with his interest in making photographic paper do something it’s not supposed to do. She recently created a series which reflected on her interest in the process that makes an image, exploring different ways in which she can alter the image she has taken. She subjected Polaroid films to various acts such as burning, bleaching, and freezing to see how the image would change.
